#8 and 9 RSS

i can see how rss can save time, sort of like a toc alert. my problem now is what to subscribe to. its all part of keeping uptodate, staying fresh and changing our patterns. its making time each day to look and read and play - realising that it is valuable, not time wasting. I suppose with a little more effort it will become part of my daily routine; like remembering to check email and to keep my mobile charged!! (still have trouble with that one) The biggest problem at home is fighting the kids for the computer. we already have 2 - David's and mine & the kids; I can forsee a future when I will have to have my own; its a future I have been fighting, but sometimes you just have to say You Win. But I'm standing by my guns - no tv in the bedroom.

# 7 Blog about technology

I remember in high school using a mouse for the first time on one of the special 'graphic' computers.

IT HAD A LIFE OF ITS OWN!!!!!!

I couldnt understand how anyone could control the thing to design a picture. At that time my computer experience was writing a basic program that counted down from 10 and then the text blast off, and a sister who at uni used punch cards.

Even at Uni the computers were DOS based. A mouse was only for the arty-farty and/or mac users. The Sanyo computers were only 90% compatible with Word and it was before wysiwyg - all I will say is that it made word-processing an assignment interesting.

It makes me feel like a dinosaur, but at least when I started work full time in a public library we did have computers, even if they werent pcs.

And now where would we be without the 'mouse'?
(I still have trouble using a track-ball 0r touch pad.)

As I said my first experiences still haunt me - so I am always very understanding and patient with those members of our adorable public who have never used a mouse before.

#6 more flickr fun

I spend so much time looking around and playing that I run out of time and brain power to add a post. I've been playing with Flickr color pickr and having lots of fun. It would be great to print and frame a selection for instant matching decor.

Montagr is also amazing - like some the prints you can buy. I really do think that some people have way too much time on their hands to be coding these programs in their spare time. Personally I'm glad they dont; it makes things so much more interesting and fun for the likes of me!

Harry and me

This is a photo of me at Rosebud Library's Harry Party for the launch of the last book. It was a great morning - I had lots of fun with the kids.
Bertie Botts Beans of all Flavour were a great hit.
